During a smile consultation, our highly experienced dentist will discuss your smile goals and talk about your options. Once agreed, a treatment plan is drawn up.
During a quick and comfortable process, our dentists will place some bonding material on the front surface of your teeth. They will then place a bracket on each tooth, setting them in place with a hardening light. Finally, the wiring is threaded through and is held in place with ties. Once our team have issued you with aftercare instructions, you’re good to go.
While every patient is different, you will need to revisit our clinic every 4-10 weeks for progress checks and braces tightening.
At the end of your allotted treatment, you’ll visit the dentist one last time to have the appliance removed. Now you’ll see how different your smile looks. You’ll also be measured up for your retainer. Once that’s done, you’re good to go!

In a word, no. They should be comfortable to wear although they may take a little getting used to at first. It is normal, however, to experience some slight discomfort after adjustment but this shows that the teeth are moving. Any discomfort should easily be brought under control with the aid of over-the-counter pain relief.
Most patients won’t notice a huge difference in their speech with braces, however, some people may have to retrain the tongue to adapt their speech slightly. As a general rule of thumb, the longer you wear fixed braces, the easier it is to get used to them.
When it comes to fixed braces, it’s vital to clean them daily by gently brushing over each bracket and wire to remove any food particles. Gently angle the brush upwards to ensure you get underneath them. Also, you may want to use a special interdental brush to clean in between the teeth and brackets as this is where bacteria and debris can easily lurk.
Additionally, you may want to avoid overly crunchy foods that could damage your braces.
