Depending upon the type of extraction, you’ll be given a list of post-surgical instructions. These include:
Try to avoid hard or crunchy foods for the first few days after extraction, or indeed, overly spicy food that may irritate the site. Most importantly, avoid drinking through a straw as this can dislodge the blood clot and cause painful dry sockets.
In 99 cases out of 100, everything should go according to plan, and the site should be back to normal within a few days. However, if you experience prolonged discomfort for longer than a few days or continual bleeding, it could be that you have a problem.
