Safe and gentle tooth removal from a highly skilled team.
As ethical and caring dentists, a key part of our job is to preserve teeth where possible. However, there are occasions where tooth removal is necessary. We want patients to know that when we perform teeth extractions in Reading, it’s normally as a last resort or to solve an underlying problem like an overcrowded mouth or a problematic wisdom tooth.
Needless to say, when we have to remove a tooth or teeth, we ensure that your care, comfort and safety are our top priority. Our highly skilled dentists have nearly 50 years of combined experience, so we can truly say that you’re in safe and capable hands.
What can you expect?
In most cases, the actual process of a tooth extraction here in Reading is far less scary than the thought of it. Here’s the process in essence…
First, we’ll administer an anaesthetic to ensure you’re relaxed and comfortable.
Using specialised dental instruments, our dentist loosens the tooth and carefully lifts it from the socket.
Once the tooth is removed, the socket is disinfected and cleaned.
You’ll be asked to bite down on some gauze until a blood clot is formed.
That’s it!
Patients typically don’t feel anything other than slight pressure when the tooth is lifted from the socket, and most are surprised at how quick the procedure is, in some cases lasting less than 30 minutes.
Why choose us for your tooth extraction needs?
There are many reasons to choose our Reading dentist. Here are just a handful of them:
A relaxing spa-like setting.
Our two dentists have a combined 49 years of experience.
Noise-cancelling headphones and ceiling-mounted TV screens for your comfort.
A caring, patient-centred team that puts you first.
Don’t let the thought of tooth extraction in Reading prevent you from getting the oral care you need! Put your trust in the team at Reading Dental Spa, and let us show you what we can do.
FAQs
What are the advantages of removing a problem tooth?
Believe it or not, tooth extraction offers several benefits; most importantly, the removal of a badly infected tooth reduces the possibility of bacterial damage to the gums and other adjacent teeth. Additionally, in the case of problems with wisdom teeth, dental pain is alleviated almost immediately.
What do I need to know after a tooth extraction?
Depending upon the type of extraction, you’ll be given a list of post-surgical instructions. These include:
Keeping the extraction site clean.
Taking any medications as directed.
Where applicable, avoid any strenuous activity for 2-3 days.
What can I eat after a tooth extraction in Reading?
Try to avoid hard or crunchy foods for the first few days after extraction, or indeed, overly spicy food that may irritate the site. Most importantly, avoid drinking through a straw as this can dislodge the blood clot and cause painful dry sockets.
How will I know if there’s a problem after a tooth extraction?
In 99 cases out of 100, everything should go according to plan, and the site should be back to normal within a few days. However, if you experience prolonged discomfort for longer than a few days or continual bleeding, it could be that you have a problem. If you experience any of these symptoms, give us a call straight away, and we will take a closer look.

“Really lovely and friendly team! The practice was also clean and the staff made sure I was well-informed throughout my treatment - highly recommended!”
Visited twice, both times for a hygiene appointment. Quick, painless and each time they fit me in with very short notice. Staff were kind and welcoming!
Today I visited Dental Spa for a teeth cleaning. First of all the clinic was extremely clean and well maintained. Shani gave me a warm welcome and offered a drink. Treatment wise Dr. Shaun did a great job, infact, I have never had someone take so much time and thoroughly to clean my teeth, and I feel much better after.Shani was quite helpful throughout the process, and she explained in detail the fees associated with future treatment plans, etc. Very lovely and courteous team, highly recommended.
I recently went to this new practice and it's fantastic!!Very modern and fresh with polite and friendly reception staff and both dentists are great!I've had a hygienist clean and Phillips Zoom teeth whitening (currently half price).I normally go to Inspire Dental and realised that both dentists (brothers), worked there previously. The Spa itself, is calming, contemporary and a completely different experience from other dentist practices. The TV on the ceiling is a fantastic touch, very relaxing overall.I highly recommend!!
From the minute I stepped foot into Reading Dental Spa I felt very looked after by both the Dental nurse to the Dentist himself, which made me very relaxed especially as I’m a nervous patient. They went above and beyond to make my treatment as comfortable as possible. 10/10
Highly recommend the Reading Dental Spa! Shervin and Shani are so friendly and helpful! I am starting my invisalign treatment here and I am so happy with the service I am receiving! Thank you!
Visited this new practice for the first time today and I have found my new dental surgery. Received a very warm and friendly welcome. Shervin made me feel very comfortable and explained everything very carefully to me. I have no hesitation in recommending Reading Dental Spa.
This dental practice has just opened, 2 brothers who already have a practice in Basingstoke. One of the cheapest compared to others in the area, was able to see me on the same day and had my root canal the next day. Fantastic service. Thank you
This is a modern and professional dental spa that really treasures their patients. Upon arrival, I was met by the receptionist that was warm and welcoming taking me through the initial sign in procedures. The dentist was kind and gentle which is good as I’ve had some bad experiences with rough dentists. They’ve got a tv in the room that’s on the ceiling so that’s something innovative I’ve never really come across before. All in all its probably the best dental spa I’ve been to and will definitely be coming back.

I can imagine for nervous dental patients they would soon have there mind taken off the treatment with a TV on the ceiling and noise cancelling head phones! The dentist has a very calming manor and I felt like he listened to my requirements. The aesthetic treatment was painless and I can't wait to see the results.Overall this was a friendly five star service I would happily return and recommend, Thank you!
